Crownless Kings
The Trimápee AW 08 ‘Crownless Kings’ Collection was inspired by the ‘Joker’. The Joker has no place in the hierarchy of the deck he is known as the wild card.
Trimápee drew inspiration from the traditional attire that a court jester wore. From the motley quilted diamond pattern, to the three-point cockscomb hat. These details were adapted and used on unexpected parts of the garments to create texture and shape.
The collection is built using tailored structured forms, asymmetrical shapes and exaggerated silhouettes. These tailored figures however, are complimented by intricate and fine detailing. Strong masculine forms are juxtaposed with surprising soft satins and textured fabrics. As inner sleeve shirt plackets creep up the arm, oversized hoods swallow and disguise our appearance. Trimápee printed fabrics, are used to line hooded leather bomber style jackets, wool blazers and coats.
