Danae Valenza

Danae Valenza is a multidisciplinary artist, from Melbourne. Her work investigates intersubjectivity, and largely, communication; how we form relationships, the dynamics of traditional or ritualistic forms of social interaction. This is often a collaborative process, involving participants in formal/ informal dimensions, with a process-driven aesthetic.

Danae completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours at Monash University, where she was awarded the Linden 'Innovators' Award . She was a resident studio artist at King's ARI in 2009-2010, and recently collaborated with Speakeasy Cinema for RESCORE, screening films with live music performances, as part of Always Moving: A Performance Laboratory in Several Parts, (curated by Jared Davis, at Gertrude Contemporary). Her work has been exhibited at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, in the ARKit Pop-up series.

Upcoming shows include 'Phonologies' at Blindside Gallery, 'Idiolect' at Linden Contemporary, and a group exhibition in the Trans-Siberian Arts Centre, from Moscow to Beijing.
