John's work is rooted in the intent to explore fashion concepts through various mediums, outcomes and communication. The ideas and concepts he gravitates towards usually comprise thematically of technology, morality, and anthropology. Germinating in the curiosity that motivates the learning of new things and the attempts at understanding our reality.
John works with 5 key objectives:
*Materiality: this is a fundamental endeavour, exploring the potentialities of accessible materials.
*Movement: the consideration of the body’s movement and its interaction with the garment is employed to inform design. *Creating an atmosphere: utilising the opposition of attraction and revulsion. The duality of conflicting emotionality: looking at something that isn’t quite human, juxtaposed with the empathy felt by identifying with the human elements.
*Fetishising the human body: examining various body parts and appropriating them for preliminary design experiments.
*Building a narrative: upon researching a particular area, stories and narratives come together to embody the information.
