Jia Jia Ji Chen and Sophie Moorhouse Morris met while completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics, at RMIT. As students Jia Jia and Sophie shared a particular interest in material - how different materials make us feel, what their function communicates and therefore what kinds of spaces and experiences can be created by using them in different ways. Jia Jia and Sophie began collaborating in their final year and for Penthouse mouse 2013 will be presenting Flocculate, an immersive installation.
Both Jia Jia and Sophie were selected for The Mary and Lou Senini Award at McClelland Gallery and Craft Victoria’s FRESH 2011 exhibition (with Jia Jia awarded The Future Leaders Excellence Award). Sophie undertook a six month exchange to the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2011 and Jia Jia has recently returned from a similar exchange at the Edinburgh College of Art. Jia Jia exhibited work at Penthouse Mouse in 2012.
