Joel Zika is a Melbourne based print and new media designer . Using multiple projection installation and large format digital imaging he creates work based on popular entertainments and the spaces of cinematic horror.
His work is featured in the upcoming book: ‘New Romantics – Darkness and Light in Australian Art’ alongside Bill Henson, Jane Burton and Tony Loyd.
Zika Lecturers in Digital Art at Deakin University, he is also completing a PHD titled ‘The translation of cinema into space’.
Since completing his education in Illustration and Visual Communication Mark exercised his skills working as a Graphic and Apparel designer in the fashion industry specialising in mens and youth apparel.
Since getting his first surfboard at the age of 12 his dream was to work as a designer at Rip Curl, Mark is still so happy to have spent three years working in the graphics team in Torquay after completing university. Since leaving Rip Curl, Mark has had the opportunity to work with some fantastic brands including Movember, PUMA, Huffer, Mr. Simple and Super Awesome.
